The Annual Grace Lutheran Jog-a-thon
When: Friday, September 11th
Grades 1-3 run from 9:15-10:15
Grades 4-8 run from 10:30-11:45
Where: Island Park in Fargo on the corner of 4th Street and 6th Avenue South (see map below).
What: The Jog-a-thon is a fundraiser benefiting Grace Lutheran Athletics. The students gather pledges/donations before the event and will run laps on a 400-meter course in the park to qualify to participate in competitions to win a prize. After achieving a set number of laps and pledges the students will participate in the prize competitions such as a free throw competition and hula hoop competition, as well as a chance to throw a pie at Mr. Wateland or Mr. Jay.
Why: The money raised by students and families is what gives Grace Lutheran the opportunity to host athletic teams in our school as well as continue our cooperative teams with Oak Grove and Fargo North at the Junior High level. The funds raised are used for our state athletic fees, paying coaches and officials, replacing old uniforms and equipment, and tournament fees.
This event is a great way to encourage our students to stay active through athletics, be a part of a team, enhance school pride as well as build relationships within the Grace Lutheran family.
Who: All Grace Lutheran School students from 1st grade through 8th grade participate in the Jog-a-thon. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and family friends are welcome to walk or run in this event and donate their laps to a student. Volunteers are needed for this event. If you don’t want to walk or run laps we do need help counting the students’ laps as they run.
I want to thank you in advance for your constant support in donations and time you put forth for this fundraiser. All of our faculty, coaches, and most importantly, students are truly grateful. We hope and pray once again that the Jog-a-thon will be a success and an enjoyable time together.
Feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.
